by Bob Augustin Jr.

Natalie D Hodge, MTTI Program Coordinator/Cover Kids Program Specialist, was the guest speaker at the January 11, 2007 meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club. Hodge presented the program on the Tennessee Cover Kids Program and the Middle Tennessee Teen Institute (MTTI).
Cover Kids is a program of the state of Tennessee which provides comprehensive health coverage for children 18 and under and maternity coverage for pregnant women. Coverage for children is similar to the benefits offered to dependents of state employees. Emphasis will be placed on preventive care and services most needed by children, including vaccinations, well-child visits, healthy babies program, and developmental screenings. For more information, go to the Cover Kids web site at http://www.covertn.gov/web/cover_kids.html.
The Middle Tennessee Teen Institute is a five day assembly to provide education and training in youth development, leadership and prevention. MTTI is for youth between the ages of 12 and 18 with the optimum age being a high school Freshman. The goal of MTTI is to promote the development of a healthy, safe and drug-free lifestyle by shaping the attitudes and behaviors of our youth in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse and violence. For more information, visit MTTI's web site at www.tnteeninstitute.org.
