2006 Most Improved Award

The Middle Tennessee District Fair, sponsored by the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, received the "Most Improved" Award at the 2007 Tennessee Association of Fairs Convention in Nashville on January 20.  This award is presented to the fair that has made major improvements in its operations or facilities during the previous year. 

The improvement most apparent to everyone attending the 2006 Middle Tennessee District Fair was the new paved Midway.  The 50 foot wide paved midway made going to the Fair possible for a lot of folks who may not have been able to attend previously.  Parents with small children in strollers, senior citizens in wheel chairs and motorized scooters, and folks of all ages with mobility limitations could now negotiate the Midway on a smooth, hard, dry surface.  The paved Midway also saved parents a fortune not having to replace clothing and footwear.

In addition to the paved Midway, the Rotary Club made $10,000 in renovations to the restrooms at the Grandstand, added lighting to the front parking lot, installed air-conditioning in the Commercial building ( in partnership with the City of Lawrenceburg and SELETS), opened a new entrance to the park off of North Military, and constructed special seating in the Grandstands for the handicapped.   The Rotary Club is committed to making the Middle Tennessee District Fair the best fair in Tennessee and will continue to make improvement to the facilities at Rotary Park.  Over the past decade, the Rotary Club has invested over $1 million in improvements to existing facilities and the addition of property and facilities at Rotary Park.
